What you need to know before getting started

INSURANCE & PAYMENTS

If you see your insurance plan listed below, I am likely considered an in-network provider to you, though it is ultimately your responsibility to confirm this with your insurance company. If you do not see your insurance plan listed below, I am likely considered an out-of-network provider to you.

Your insurance company may provide coverage for out-of-network therapy services, however, it is your responsibility to verify this coverage with them, pay me directly for services, and then seek reimbursement from them. I am more than happy to provide you with regular “superbills” which you can use to seek reimbursement going forward.

Some individuals choose to self-pay in order to have more autonomy over their mental health care and/or for privacy reasons. Insurance companies only cover care that is “medically necessary,” which means that a recognized mental health diagnosis and a formal treatment plan are both required. Since not all individuals who seek therapy meet this diagnostic criteria, self-pay can be a great option.

Furthermore, mental health diagnoses must be submitted to your insurance company in order to obtain reimbursement, however, these diagnoses then become part of your permanent health care record and can potentially lead to limitations going forward. You are encouraged to contact your insurance company if you have any questions about your record and its future implications.

You also have the option to self-pay, if you desire.

Teletherapy appointments at Positive Perceptions, LLC are always scheduled for 55 minutes and cost $140.  Current participants are required to inform Positive Perceptions, LLC of their intention to cancel or reschedule appointments at least 24 hours’ prior to the start time of their appointment. Failure to do so will result in the client being charged the self-pay rate ($140) for their missed appointment.
